Sometimes, readers and their families need a little extra help getting registered. Here is how you can sign up readers or groups for Beanstack accounts from the admin view.
Note: If an individual reader would rather use paper logs than a virtual account, check out this article for creating an offline account.
Account Creator’s Basic Info
Each account must have one account creator who oversees the account; the account creator can add one or more readers. Each reader has their own individual profile, reading log, and the ability to enroll in different, age-specific challenges. If you're registering a family account, we recommend that a parent signs up as the account creator. Of course, account creators may also have their own reader profiles.
- Log in with your staff account to go to the admin dashboard.
- Go to People > Add an Account Creator and Reader.
- Fill out any required fields, marked with a red asterisk.
Note: Form fields will vary from site to site, and may appear under a “Basic Info” section.
Who is this account for?
If you’re registering one or more individual readers from a family, select “Family or an Individual.” If you’re an organization registering multiple readers (e.g., a daycare, afterschool club, or camp), select “Group.”
Family or an Individual
With this option, you can register multiple readers from a family, including the account creator.
Is this person registering as a reader?
This option pertains to the account creator. If you select “Yes”, a new form will appear for you to fill out with the reader’s information, which may include their birthday and grade.
Note: The form fields will vary based on what’s set under Setup > Registration Fields.
You can also toggle email notifications about rewards for the reader(s) if they provided an email in the “Account Creator’s Basic Info” form.
Are you also registering other family members on this person's account?
If you select “Yes” for this option, a new form will appear.
- Fill all the required fields, marked with a red asterisk.
- Select “Add Reader” when finished.
Group
This option is ideal for a daycare, afterschool club, or camp with multiple readers.
Note: Group accounts should only be made when the group leader will be the only one accessing and logging for everyone in the group.
- Specify whether the group leader will log reading and activities for the whole group at once or for individual group members. The latter allows group leaders to log different amounts for each reader.
- Fill out any required fields under “Group Info.”
Finish
Select “Create Account” after registering all readers for the account.
