Sometimes an account creator may want to share one of his/her readers with another account creator. For example, a teacher may want to share a student's reader page with a parent. Or, a parent may want to share a reader's profile with another caregiver. In these cases, the reader can be shared, meaning both account creators may take actions on the reader's profile, and are able to edit/update it collaboratively.
Sharing a reader is an action that may only be taken by an account creator.
Remember the Account Creator is whoever initially signed up and created the Beanstack account. A Reader is the person participating in a challenge, for whom reading or activities are being logged. Accounts can have multiple readers attached. The account creator and reader could also be the same person; for example, if an adult or teen signs up to participate in a program they will be the account creator and they will also be the reader associated with the account.
To share a reader the account creator should take the following steps:
- Login and use the dropdown menu in the upper left corner of the dashboard to toggle to the reader the account creator wants to share.
- Then, click on that reader's name and select "Edit Reader."
- Once on that page, scroll down to "Share this reader," and enter the email address of the person(s) with whom they want to share the reader, then send.
The recipient will receive a message saying that the account creator wants to share this reader. The recipient will be prompted to create their own Beanstack account (if they do not have one), or enter a code to add this reader to an existing account.
Note: The share feature is disabled for all schools using Clever to import students.
