Whether it is a storytime for an entire class or a group of kids who turn in their weekly paper reading logs, you can easily log that reading in Beanstack! Here are a few convenient ways to log reading for students in your class.
Log via the "Log for My Classes" button in the admin dashboard
-
When you log in to your school's site, you'll land on your admin dashboard.
-
In the upper-right corner, click "Log For My Classes."
-
Choose the class and deselect any students who didn't participate.
-
Choose the log type of your reading session, and then enter all the details, like the amount of reading, title, and date.
-
Click Log Reading, and that reading will be added to each individual student's reader profile.
Log via the Classes and Readers section in the admin dashboard
- From your admin dashboard, click the Classes and Readers section.
- You'll land within Classes, where you can view all of the classes rostered to you. You can click the "Log for Class" quick action icon to the right of one to input a reading session just like through the "Log for My Classes" button.
- You can also click the class name to see all the students in that class. Then, you can click an individual student's name to view their individual reading progress; click any of the quick action icons on the right to redeem incentives, add to log, log an activity, or take challenge actions; or click the "Log for Class" button to input a reading session for any number of students.
Log via the reader experience
- Log in to your school's site and click the "View Reader Experience" tab on the right side of the screen.
- Then, click the "Log Reading" or "Log Reading and Activities" button in the top left corner of the page, next to your school logo.
- Next, select the class for which you'd like to log, and either select all of the students in the class or select "none" and then manually check off the students for whom you are logging reading.
- Then, select what you would like to log. This may be books, minutes, or activities. The logging type(s) available will vary depending on your school and challenges. If your school is running a reading list challenge, you will also see the option to log for those specific titles.
- Enter the reading information for the students. Note that while "Title" may be required for books and minutes, you may enter something like "Reading Logs - Week of January 1" or "Storytime before dismissal."
- Click Log Reading to save the session. Any badges earned from the reading will pop up!
