When creating most reading challenges, you can create non-repeatable activity badges to offer one-time enrichment activities to readers. Within points challenges, you can also create repeatable activity badges to reward multiple completions of the same activity.
You can use time restrictions with either type of activity badge in order to restrict the activity availability to a certain timeframe within the overall challenge duration or set them as active or inactive manually. You can also add any number of activities to either badge type.
Non-repeatable activity badges
Non-repeatable activity badges are the primary type of activity badge used within Beanstack challenges.
These badges are best used for traditional activities that are meant to be done once. We do not recommend using non-repeatable activity badges for readers to log reading. Instead, you'd want to add logging badges to your challenge or create a reading list challenge to assign specific books.
When creating the badge, you can specify how many activities must be completed to earn the badge, and once a reader has finished those activities, they earn that badge. Readers can only complete the activities and earn the badge (and any attached rewards, tickets, or certificates) once.
When setting up the badge, you can decide to select other non-repeatable activity badges as prerequisite activity badges in order to require that the selected prerequisite badge be earned before readers can complete any activities within the activity badge.
Repeatable activity badges
Repeatable activity badges are only available to use in points challenges.
These badges are well-suited for activities you want to reward readers for doing multiple times. Just like with non-repeatable activity badges, we do not recommend using repeatable activity badges for readers to record reading. Instead, you'd want to toggle on the specific log types (like minutes and books) as earnable point types in the challenge to reward participants for their logged reading.
You can add any number of activities to a repeatable activity badge and decide the points awarded for each activity completion. Readers never earn repeatable activity badges, but instead can complete activities and earn the designated points an endless number of times while the badge is active.
Within the challenge, the repeatable activity badge tracks the number of activity completions and points earned from that badge for the reader. Those points accumulate to earn the reader points badges.
Because readers cannot earn repeatable activity badges, you cannot attach rewards, certificates, or tickets to repeatable activity badges. And you cannot select a prerequisite activity badge for a repeatable activity badge.
