It's easy to set up your school's rosters in Beanstack so that students and teachers can get reading! Here are a few frequently asked questions about the rostering process.
What rostering services does Beanstack support?
We integrate with Clever, ClassLink, Skyward, Aeries, and RapidIdentity to import school rosters. We also support CSV file uploading to set up student accounts, teacher accounts, and classes independent of our supported rostering services. You can learn more about the CSV rostering process here.
What rostering information is imported into Beanstack?
Once your Beanstack site is connected to your student information system, all teachers, students, homerooms/advisory classes, and English language arts classes are imported into Beanstack.
Who can edit and view students' reading logs?
Teachers can log reading and view data for any students rostered to them. Media specialists can log reading and view data for any students at the school. For more information about access levels, check out our role access grid here.
Can assistant teachers or co-teachers edit and view their students' reading logs?
Yes! As long as your assistant teachers or co-teachers are set up correctly in your rostering service as secondary teachers for their classes, they are able to log reading for classes just like primary teachers.
How do staff who are rostered to multiple schools access their accounts and classes on each school site?
Staff who teach at multiple schools in a district and have multiple Beanstack accounts on those sites are able to pick which school to access once they're logged in. At the top of their admin dashboard, their current site displays in the "Current Site" dropdown, along with all their school sites in alphabetical order. Selecting a different school switches them to that site's account and admin dashboard. Then they can access the classes and students rostered to them just like normal!
What if I need to make a change to a roster or account?
If you need to edit a roster or account, make the change in your rostering service and it will sync up with Beanstack automatically. Beanstack refreshes our rostering connections and information with a daily sync every 24 hours and a weekly import every weekend. If you use CSV files, you can upload a new file to delete, edit, or add accounts or classes by following these steps.
What should I do if a student or teacher is having problems logging in?
If a student or teacher is having trouble logging in to Beanstack through your rostering service's launchpad:
- Check your own rostering data first. Were changes recently made? Are sharing settings correct?
- Wait 24 hours, then check again. Most issues will resolve in this timeframe.
- Then, you can reach out to your rostering service for support, or submit a ticket with Benastack’s support team.
When does Beanstack reset rosters for the new school year?
Beanstack will set up your new rosters during the summer before the upcoming school year. The exact timeline depends on your end date and start date, as well as if you use Beanstack for summer learning. If you use CSV files, you will need to reimport your new files—we recommend doing so before teachers return for their prep sessions by following these steps. You can reach out to your Client Success Manager or beanstack.com/support with any questions.
How can I download previously imported roster CSV files?
You can download the last teacher or student roster CSV file that you uploaded to your Beanstack site by navigating to Classes and Readers > Roster CSV Imports > Teacher Imports or Student Imports > Download.
