Beanstack makes it easy for school partners to link their Beanstack site up with their local library’s Beanstack site via a tandem connection. Tandems allow your students to sync up their school and library profiles so that all their logged reading counts toward both sites' challenges, badges, and logs. And they allow you as a media specialist to promote challenges more broadly, see more reading data from your students, grow participation and engagement levels, and seamlessly partner with your local library.
To maximize your tandem partnership, it’s important to let students and families know how to link their profiles! We’ve created a flyer that walks students or their grown-ups through the easy steps. We recommend sending the flyer home with students or in your school newsletters or emails to families. If students already have a library Beanstack account with their family, it’s important that they link to that account rather than create a new one, or else all their reading at school and at the library will end up transferring to the wrong profiles! This can make it challenging to link accounts during school hours, since younger students may not know their library Beanstack account login information, so we suggest encouraging families to help.
We also recommend regularly sharing challenge details and timing plans between your school and your public library tandem counterpart. This can help each of you know when to remind students and families to link their profiles, register for a new challenge, and double down on their reading!
